Design Week 2015 at Chelsea Harbour is the perfect environment for meeting and greeting the great and good of the interior design world. Today I spent the day at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, which becomes a hub for interior designers during London's Design Week. The week-long event is fantastic for soaking up the atmosphere, networking, viewing new collections and listening to some fascinating presentations.  

Rita Konig: Interiors past and present

The new contributing editor for House & Garden magazine — style writer and interior designer — Rita Konig, gave a superb presentation on interiors in the past and present. She explored how House & Garden’s archive of vintage interiors influences the design of today.

Giorgetti Furniture: Infinite possibilities of furniture design

Over a delicious lunch, I listened to the enigmatic GianCarlo Giorgetti, the head of the Giorgetti furniture empire, talk about his family business, Giorgetti Furniture. Staff members then gave a riveting presentation about the infinite possibilities of furniture design through the use of sculptural organic shapes and forms. 

Giorgetti furniture is like pieces of art; they are made in Italy from local wood by artisans.  Absolutely stunning pieces, some of which were designed in the 90s and are still best sellers.

Tomorrow, I'll be back at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour to hear three presentations:

1. Acclaimed designers, Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, talk to Elle Deco's editor-in-chief Michelle Ogundehin about their unique philosophy. By working across disciplines, they will explore the coming together of cultures, technology, industrial design and craftsmanship.

2. Glas Italia's, Flavio Parlato, present 'Through the looking glass'. Seductive, magical works of art. Glas Italia‘s portfolio amazes and discloses the advanced and sophisticated techniques in glass furnishings.

3. International designer Joanna Wood talk to art and book editor, Mary Miers, about interiors for living.

This is my first Design Week and as a budding new interior stylist I'm like a sponge, soaking up as much as I can of this exciting industry. I wish I'd started this new career years ago instead of working in the financial services for the last 14 years!!

The Design Centre Chelsea Harbour is stunningly decorated for Design Week, with a tree covered in fake blossom as the focal point in the central dome area. Many of the showrooms have beautiful flower arrangements by London florists, some of which you can see in my photos.
