Using plants and flowers in the home

I love the simplicity of this jar of blue Muscari. I am a huge fan of blue flowers.

You can never have too many flowers or plants in the home. As an ex-florist, it is important for me to be surrounded by flowers and plants, and I am always looking for inspiration in books, magazines and on the internet.

Here are some great examples from English House & Garden magazine that I wanted to share with you. Most are simple and easy to reproduce yourself.

A few cheese plant leaves or plum tree branches are very effective.

A few glossy cheese plant leaves can make a real impact

A large display of Cotinus coggygria (smoke bush) stems creates real drama.

A monotone white display of frothy blooms in clear glass creates an elegant look.

A minimalist sculptural display of green parrot tulips, bulbs and green calla lilies.

I love the simplicity of the orchid plant complementing this blue and white room.

love this green and white jug of anenomes (my favourite flower), lilac, dill, ecalyptus, veronica, phlox and alchemilla mollis

Wonderful branches of Italian plum tree

Tiny orange kumquats combined with paperwhites, dark berries of English ivy and lacy ferns

One of Vic Brotherson's fabulous arrangements  with stunning hydrangeas. She uses chicken wire in the urn to arrange the flowers. If only we could all emulate this.
